The Boy Is Gone Conversations with a Mau Mau General Africa in World History eBook Laura Lee P Huttenbach
Absolutely a wonderful book about the true story of the good and bad experiences of a very interesting life. The author does such a good job that the "General" does speak to the reader. Perseverance of a man who faced obstacles unimaginable to us. Adventure, history, human spirit, human misery, war, freedom fighters, and more. All that makes this a wonderful book.Tags : Amazon.com: The Boy Is Gone: Conversations with a Mau Mau General (Africa in World History) eBook: Laura Lee P. Huttenbach: Kindle Store, ebook,Laura Lee P. The Boy Is Gone Conversations with a Mau Mau General Africa in World History eBook Laura Lee P Huttenbach Reviews
Several years ago after returning from two weeks in Kenya I read Something of Value and another book by Robert Ruark about the terrible times in the 1950's when the Mau Mau uprising was occurring. The books were very powerful and I thought that the view might have been somewhat one-sided so now I am glad to have read an interesting account of those times which gives another point of view from someone who actually participated in the events. You can tell that the General was truly a freedom- fighter who loved his country and not a terrorist. Ms Huttenbach has done an excellent job of recording these valuable and interesting conversations.I would think this would be a must-read for students of African history.
Excellent
Huttenbach captures an amazing narrative by an important man. The General tells a history I did not know, but I am glad I know it now.
This book is about life of Mau Mau General. It was an interesting read and I learned about Kenya's rebels. I enjoyed this excellent book very much.
A wonderful contemporary addition to the literature regarding Kenyan culture and recent history. I find complimentary to the older (and less readable) "Facing Mt. Kenya" by Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.
All that makes this a wonderful book.
